Skin-Stealers: The Hollow Mimics

  • Category: Liminal Entity
  • Origin: The Backrooms Lore

The entities colloquially known as Skin-Stealers are apex predators within the Backrooms ecosystem. In their natural, unadorned state, they manifest as hulking, amorphous masses of translucent, pale-yellow flesh. They possess a rudimentary but effective physiology capable of navigating the shifting geometry of the various levels.

“To see one in its natural state is rare. To see one wearing a face you recognize is usually your last mistake.” — Fragmented log from a wandering archivist.

The Skin-Stealer’s primary evolutionary advantage lies in its namesake ability. After dispatching a human target, the entity meticulously flays the victim, utilizing the dermis as a biological suit.

  • Mimicry: Once integrated into a human skin, the entity gains the ability to replicate the vocal patterns and basic behavioral loops of the deceased.
  • Luring: They utilize this facade to lure unsuspecting wanderers into trap zones, often feigning injury or distress to initiate close-range engagement.

Per the standard backrooms_entities regulatory framework, researchers and wanderers must adhere to the following containment constraints:

  1. Environmental Awareness: Entities are active hunters. Maintain a minimum perimeter of 50 meters in low-light corridors.
  2. Standard Physicality: While they inhabit the liminal space, they remain susceptible to blunt force trauma, though their regenerative capabilities are poorly understood.
  3. Cognitive Defense: Do not engage in verbal communication with survivors who exhibit erratic speech patterns or “hollow” affect.

In the context of the greater SCP/Multiversal Anomaly database, there is currently no established formal containment protocol.

Archivists are encouraged to submit documentation regarding:

  • Containment Breaches: Have any instances been observed outside of Level 0 or Level 1?
  • Psychological Impact: Research into the “Uncanny Valley” triggers induced by long-term exposure to Skin-Stealer mimics.
  • Anatomical Anomalies: Studies on the biological binding process between the entity’s pale-yellow flesh and the stolen epidermis.
