Ammit: The Devourer of the Dead
Entity: Ammit
Section titled “Entity: Ammit”- Entity ID: ent_egyptian_mythology_ammit
- Classification: Euclid
- Threat Level: 5 (High/Existential)
- Alignment: Neutral
- Category: Funerary Deity / Metaphysical Entity
- Origin: Egyptian Mythology (Book of the Dead, Pyramid Texts)
- Known Aliases: The Devourer of the Dead, Eater of Hearts, The Great of Death
Morphological Profile
Section titled “Morphological Profile”Ammit is not a biological entity in the conventional sense, but rather a conceptual manifestation of karmic destruction. Her physical form is an amalgam of the three most feared “man-eating” predators recognized by the ancient inhabitants of the Nile Valley:
- Forequarters: Possessing the muscular agility and predatory instincts of a lion.
- Midsection: The heavy, impenetrable bulk of a hippopotamus.
- Head/Jaws: The lethal, serrated crush-force of a Nile crocodile.
“She is the final gatekeeper of the afterlife. She does not kill the body; she erases the essence.” — Fragment from the Papyrus of Ani
Behavioral Logic & Metaphysical Function
Section titled “Behavioral Logic & Metaphysical Function”Within the jurisdiction of the Duat, Ammit occupies a position adjacent to the Scales of Justice. Her behavioral triggers are strictly bound to the Ma’at Calibration:
- The Weighing: When a soul arrives for judgment, their heart (the seat of the intellect and memory) is placed upon a scale against the Feather of Truth.
- The Verdict: Should the heart prove heavier than the feather—indicating a soul laden with sin and imbalance—the entity becomes “active.”
- The Devouring: The entity consumes the heart immediately. This process causes a “Second Death,” resulting in the complete cessation of the soul’s existence. The victim is denied access to the Aaru (the Field of Reeds).
Containment & Operational Protocol
Section titled “Containment & Operational Protocol”When interacting with entities derived from the Egyptian Mythology framework, researchers must adhere to the following:
- Containment Class: Euclid. The entity remains localized within the Duat plane, yet metaphysical resonance can be detected near artifacts associated with ancient funerary rites.
- Proximity Alert: Standard containment field radius is set to 50 meters. Unauthorized entry into localized “thin” zones where the veil between the Duat and the material world is compromised is strictly prohibited.
- Modern Anomaly Adaptation: No current sightings in the modern terrestrial environment. However, researchers are warned that any artifacts retrieved from intact, unlooted tombs should be scanned for residual “judgment radiation.”
Research Notes
Section titled “Research Notes”Addendum 01: While classified as “Neutral,” the entity exhibits a total lack of empathy or deviation from her pre-programmed task. She is a biological/spiritual computer whose input is “Sin” and whose output is “Oblivion.”
Pending: Archive team requests input from the Occult Research Division regarding whether modern, secular judicial systems have any impact on the “Weight of the Heart” metrics. Is it possible for a modern human to bypass the scales? Or does the entity operate on a scale of morality that transcends human legal systems?
Further investigation into the ‘Book of the Dead’ secondary source files is recommended.
