The Krasue (Thai: กระสือ) is a nocturnal, parasitic entity prevalent in the mythos of Southeast Asia. Often categorized as an undead manifestation, the entity represents a grotesque intersection of biological horror and metaphysical curse.

Unlike traditional specters, the Krasue possesses a semi-physical form. During daylight hours, the entity remains dormant, appearing as an ordinary woman who must hide her inanimate, headless torso.

Upon the onset of nightfall, the entity undergoes a traumatic physiological separation:

  • Cephalic Component: The head detaches from the neck, hovering in mid-air via an unknown telekinetic or anomalous process.
  • Visceral Trailing: A dangling mass of organs—primarily the trachea, lungs, stomach, and intestines—remains tethered to the cranium.
  • Luminescence: Witnesses describe a faint, eerie bioluminescence emanating from the trailing viscera, providing the only visual warning of an imminent approach.

The entity operates under a strict nocturnal circadian rhythm. System rules governing the Krasue mandate:

“The entity is restricted to a 50-meter active awareness radius. It prioritizes the acquisition of blood, raw flesh, or, in some regional variations, refuse and feces to sustain its necrotic physiology.”

The Krasue is driven by an insatiable, hunger-based instinct. It frequently targets livestock or isolated humans, utilizing its flight capability to bypass traditional physical barriers. It must return to its concealed torso before the first rays of dawn, lest the entity dissipate or become permanently tethered to its current location.

Modern Anomaly Adaptation: Investigative Notes

Current documentation suggests the Krasue may not be a singular entity, but rather a transmissible condition. Research into the “cursed bloodline” aspect is ongoing.

Archivist’s Note: To date, no formal containment protocol has been successfully implemented by the Foundation. Due to the entity’s ability to disguise its “day-form” as a mundane civilian, tracking suspected hosts requires extensive surveillance of rural village clinics for symptoms of unexplained abdominal trauma or chronic, localized anemia.

Recommended counter-measures:

  1. Thorny Shrubbery: Placement of thorny plants (such as bamboo or palm fronds) around the host body’s location, which creates a physical entanglement hazard for the trailing organs during the entity’s return.
  2. Thermal Imaging: Deploying localized thermal sweeps to detect the unique heat signature of the exposed, dangling viscera in low-light conditions.
