The Jinn (Arabic: al-jinn) are pre-human, trans-dimensional entities woven from the essence of “smokeless fire” (marij min nar). Unlike biological organisms constrained by carbon-based anatomy, Jinn occupy a vibrational frequency adjacent to our own, allowing them to traverse the veil between the physical realm and the unseen ether.

  • Appearance: They are master shape-shifters. While their “true” form is an undulating, luminous plasma, they frequently manifest as:

    • Humanoid: Mimicking specific individuals or idealized archetypes.
    • Zoological: Frequently assuming the forms of serpents, hounds, or scavenging birds.
    • Elemental: Manifesting as localized whirlwinds or desert sandstorms to mask their passage.
  • Nature: Possessing cognitive faculties and free will on par with humanity, Jinn are not governed by programmed instinct. Their moral compass is entirely internal—they are capable of profound benevolence, malicious trickery, or total indifference to mortal affairs.

[System Rule: Active Phase Protocol] When an active Jinn entity is detected, all field agents must adhere to the established metaphysical parameters of the Persian mythology subsystem:

  1. Environmental Anchoring: The entity is bound by ancient covenants inherent to the Avestan-class mythology. Do not attempt to utilize conventional electromagnetic containment; focus on harmonic resonance dampeners.
  2. Standard Vigilance Radius: Maintain a minimum exclusion zone of 50 meters. Sudden shifts in air pressure or rapid temperature spikes are primary indicators of a manifestation event.
  3. Communication: Do not engage in unsolicited verbal pacts. The Jinn recognize legalistic intent; a casual agreement can be interpreted as a binding oath under their ontological law.

“The Jinn represent a unique category of anomaly—they are not ‘monsters’ in the traditional sense, but sovereign inhabitants of an overlapping reality. They exist in the peripheral vision of the modern world, often mistaken for atmospheric phenomena or psychiatric phenomena by the uninitiated.” — Senior Researcher Archival Log #402

Current Status: No specific modern SCP-style containment protocol is currently active. The research board is actively soliciting submissions regarding Jinn sightings in urban environments, specifically involving instances where “smokeless fire” signatures have been identified in the wake of anomalous telekinetic events.

Note: All field reports regarding “The Hidden Ones” must be submitted to the Level 4 secure terminal for verification.
