“He who goes on all fours.” — Literal translation of Yee Naaldlooshii.

The Skinwalker is a malevolent entity originating from the deep-lore of Navajo tradition. Unlike common lycanthropes found in European folklore, the Skinwalker is a human practitioner of the dark arts who has achieved the ability to transform into an animal—most commonly a wolf, coyote, owl, fox, or crow—by committing a heinous taboo, typically the murder of a close family member.

  • Appearance: Witnesses often describe the entity as an unnaturally proportioned animal. They may display human-like eyes or move with a jerky, erratic gait that defies organic movement. When sighted, they are frequently seen in a bipedal stance, wearing the hide or wearing the “skin” of the animal they have assumed.
  • Nature: They are harbingers of sickness, discord, and misfortune. Their presence is often preceded by a feeling of profound, primal dread.

When the entity is localized or confirmed active, all researchers and field agents are to adhere to the following protocols:

  1. Law of Sympathy: Any interaction with the entity must strictly adhere to the established metaphysical and physical laws of Native American esoteric tradition.
  2. Perimeter Protocol: Establish a hard quarantine zone. A 50-meter base alert radius must be maintained at all times. If the entity is spotted within this radius, retreat is mandatory; direct eye contact is strictly prohibited.
  3. Observation: Documentation of the Yee Naaldlooshii is notoriously difficult, as the entity is believed to possess the ability to mimic the voices of loved ones or call out to potential victims in the dark to lure them away from protection.

In the context of modern anomaly containment, the Skinwalker represents a unique challenge due to its basis in cultural belief systems, which may bolster its efficacy in localized reality-warping events.

Archivist Note: There is currently no unified containment protocol for the Skinwalker in modern, industrialized environments. Researchers are encouraged to contribute incident logs regarding the appearance of the Yee Naaldlooshii in urban settings, specifically looking for correlations between “urban legends” and legitimate sightings of anomalous humanoid entities.

Further research into the protection rituals associated with the Navajo Nation is pending review by the Ethics Committee.
