Y’golonac, often referred to as “The Defiler,” is a grotesque entity originating from the deepest strata of the Lovecraftian mythos. Unlike the cosmic, unthinking forces of Azathoth or the slumbering malice of Cthulhu, Y’golonac represents a more intimate, psychological form of corruption. He is a deity of perversion, obscenity, and the transgression of all moral boundaries.

“He who reads of Y’golonac, thinks of Y’golonac. And he who thinks of Y’golonac, invites Y’golonac.”

[System Rule] When the entity is active, the following protocols are enforced:

  1. Physical Manifestation: Y’golonac is formless until he occupies a human host. He is often summoned through the reading of the Revelations of Gla’aki.
  2. Environmental Baseline: Standard occult dampeners must be active within a 50-meter radius to mitigate psionic intrusion.
  3. Infection Vector: The entity propagates through human desire. Any subject demonstrating an unnatural obsession with forbidden texts must be quarantined immediately.

In a modern context, Y’golonac is classified as a memetic hazard. His “physical” form is irrelevant compared to the data-spread of his influence.

  • Digital Contagion: Research suggests that fragments of the Revelations are circulating in dark-web forums and encrypted deep-web repositories.
  • Containment Protocol: Active monitoring of specific keywords related to the “Defiler” is required. No personnel are permitted to recite the entity’s name aloud in the presence of junior researchers or civilian subjects.

The entity feeds on the internal corruption of its host. Once the human psyche is sufficiently warped, Y’golonac undergoes a metamorphosis, erupting from the host’s body—often leaving only a headless, gore-strewn husk. Researchers observing such events must remain cognizant of the “Observer Effect”; knowledge of the entity is a precursor to its manifestation.

Research Note: Current containment efforts are severely hindered by the entity’s ability to “possess” those who harbor deep-seated, repressed desires. If you find yourself pondering the nature of the Defiler for too long, please report to the memetic security wing for immediate amnestic treatment.
