Erlik: The Sovereign of the Subterranean

  • Entity ID: ent_turkic_mongolic_mythology_erlik
  • Classification: Euclid
  • Threat Level: 5 (High)
  • Alignment: Neutral (Chaos-Aligned)
  • Category: Deific Entity / Primordial Spirit
  • Origin: Turkic-Mongolic Mythology (Tengrism)
  • Primary Title: Lord of the Underworld (Tamag)

Erlik, often referred to in ancient texts as the first creation of the supreme deity Ülgen, represents the shadow cast by the light of creation. Unlike standard personifications of death, Erlik functions as the architect of mortality and human suffering.

“He is the darkness that breathes beneath the steppe, the cold sweat upon the brow of the dying, and the architect of every plague that has ever tasted human iron.” — Fragment recovered from the Altai Codex

Erlik is documented as a figure of grotesque, singular intensity:

  • Physiognomy: Characterized by a distorted, porcine countenance, a coarse black beard, and eyes that smolder with the heat of stagnant subterranean fires.
  • Mobility: He is rarely sighted on foot, typically manifesting atop a spectral black horse or a hairless, obsidian-skinned bull, signaling the onset of cataclysmic events.

[System Rule] When the entity enters an active state within our reality, the following protocols must be observed:

  1. Cosmological Adherence: The entity must strictly obey the metaphysical laws established within the Turkic-Mongolic mythological framework. Any attempt to breach these boundaries often results in reality-fractures.
  2. Containment Radius: A standard safety buffer of 50 meters must be maintained at all times to prevent psychic contagion or exposure to low-frequency anomalous radiation emitted by the entity’s presence.

In the current era of hyper-connectivity and occult digital surveillance, Erlik is no longer restricted to the physical Altai steppes. Researchers suggest that Erlik may now manifest through digital information decay or unexplained epidemiological surges that defy modern medical intervention.

Researcher’s Note: Containment Proposals

Section titled “Researcher’s Note: Containment Proposals”
  • Strategic Suggestion: Containment of Erlik is currently considered impossible in a traditional sense. Research should pivot toward mitigation. Ritualist suppression, specifically the use of traditional Turkic copper amulets, has shown a 14% decrease in local reality-distortion levels during potential manifestation windows.
  • Active Surveillance: Ongoing monitoring of global seismic patterns is recommended, as the entity’s movement is often preceded by deep-crust tectonic tremors.

Archivist Status: Awaiting further field data from the Central Asian research sectors.
