  • Entity ID: ent_lovecraftian_detailed_tsathoggua
  • Classification: Euclid
  • Threat Level: 5
  • Alignment: Neutral
  • Origin: Cthulhu Mythos (Expanded)
  • Status: Dormant / Subterranean

Tsathoggua—often referred to as “The Sleeper of N’kai”—manifests as a grotesque, amorphous mass. Early sightings and accounts describe a titanic, fur-covered entity bearing a disturbing resemblance to a hybrid between a toad and a bat. Its features are perpetually draped in a slothful, semi-somnolent expression. Despite its lumbering appearance, the entity possesses a fluid, semi-plastic physiology that suggests a biology not bound by traditional terrestrial laws.

“He is not a god of action, but a god of appetite. He waits in the dark, and the dark waits for him.” — Fragment recovered from the N’kai Expedition journals.

Tsathoggua exhibits a baseline lethargy that is anomalous in its own right. Unlike more aggressive entities within the Mythos, Tsathoggua prefers to remain in deep, lightless subterranean chambers.

  • The Stasis Requirement: The entity spends the vast majority of its existence in a state of suspended animation.
  • Trophic Strategy: Tsathoggua is a passive predator. It does not hunt; it demands that tribute be delivered directly to its mandibles. It is known to telepathically influence cultists or unfortunate cave-explorers to wander into its reach.

When this entity is confirmed to be in an active state, research staff must adhere to the following logic gates:

  1. Reality Anchoring: All observers must maintain rigorous adherence to standard Lovecraftian physical and metaphysical constraints.
  2. Proximity Threshold: A strict 50-meter perimeter must be maintained. Entering this radius without proper cognitive shielding often results in “involuntary veneration,” where the subject feels a compulsion to offer themselves to the entity.

In the context of the contemporary Global Occult Coalition or modern containment foundations, Tsathoggua remains a “Low-Interaction” threat. Because the entity rarely leaves its subterranean sanctum in the region of N’kai, standard containment is effectively “passive observation.”

Researcher Note: Should any field agents encounter signs of seismic activity or localized reality thinning in the vicinity of known N’kai entrances, notify the Mythos Research Division immediately. We have yet to establish a formalized containment protocol for a mobile Tsathoggua scenario.
