Overview
Section titled “Overview”The Gnome is a pervasive, cross-cultural entity manifesting across global belief systems. Far from the benign garden decorations popularized in 20th-century mass media, the true ent_global_gnome is a sub-terrestrial lifeform with an affinity for geomancy and the manipulation of localized physical constants.
“To perceive the Gnome is to witness the boundary between the mundane earth and the deep, chthonic roots of our world’s history. They do not ‘live’ in the soil; they permeate it.” — Archivist Note #882
Behavioral Logic
Section titled “Behavioral Logic”When the entity is identified in an active state, the following protocols must be observed to maintain the veil:
- Physical/Occult Compliance: The entity is bound by the standard Global Occult Laws. It requires a stable geomantic baseline to maintain physical cohesion.
- Containment Perimeter: A baseline observation radius of 50 meters is mandatory. Exceeding this proximity often results in sensory distortion or the sudden, unexplained translocation of personal metallic items.
Modern Anomaly Adaptation
Section titled “Modern Anomaly Adaptation”In the context of contemporary anomalous research, the Gnome has transitioned from a mythological curiosity to a verifiable environmental hazard.
- Containment Procedures:
- Current research suggests that Gnomes are reactive to high-frequency electromagnetic interference.
- Research personnel are advised to refrain from introducing rare earth minerals into the containment zone, as the entity displays a compulsive hoarding behavior.
- Incident Reports:
- There are currently no documented breaches under the SCP Foundation’s jurisdiction, though field agents are encouraged to log sightings in regions with high soil-shifting activity.
Research Addenda
Section titled “Research Addenda”- Morphology: While they typically appear as stout, diminutive humanoids in primary source literature, sightings in deep-crust industrial sites describe a more amorphous, crystalline physiology.
- Classification Note: Their Euclid status is derived from their unpredictable capacity to phase through solid matter when threatened, rendering standard physical barriers largely ineffective.
