Description
Section titled “Description”The Tupilaq (Inuktitut: tupilak) is a manifestation of concentrated malice, a construct originating from the harsh, unforgiving frozen expanses of the Arctic. Unlike natural spirits, the Tupilaq is a synthetic entity, painstakingly assembled by an angakkuq (shaman) using a morbid patchwork of animal bones, skin, sinew, hair, and—in the most potent and forbidden iterations—remains harvested from human corpses.
“To create a Tupilaq is to invite the void into one’s own marrow. It is a vessel of singular intent, carved from the debris of life to extinguish it.” — Fragment recovered from Arctic folklore archives.
Manifestation Characteristics
Section titled “Manifestation Characteristics”- Structural Composition: A grotesque, chimeric hybrid. Its form is fluid but consistently disturbing, often appearing as a skeletal amalgamation that defies natural biology.
- The Curse of Agency: Once brought to life through blood-rituals and incantations, the Tupilaq possesses a singular, autonomous directive: to track and eliminate the enemy of its creator.
- The Rebound Paradox: The entity is a double-edged blade. If the intended target possesses superior spiritual fortitude or deeper knowledge of the arcane, they can “bind” the Tupilaq, turning its aggression back upon the original shaman.
Behavioral Logic
Section titled “Behavioral Logic”When the entity is rendered active within the environment, it adheres to the following arcane protocols:
- Law of Retribution: The entity does not observe standard morality. It follows the path of least resistance to the target, ignoring bystanders unless they pose a direct threat to its mission.
- Detection Radius: It operates with an effective supernatural “sense” spanning 50 meters. Within this radius, the entity is capable of tracking the target’s heartbeat and thermal signature, regardless of environmental shielding.
Modern Anomaly Adaptation
Section titled “Modern Anomaly Adaptation”Current entries within the Global Archive regarding the Tupilaq’s status in the contemporary era are sparse. Researchers speculate that in a modern setting, the “raw materials” used to construct these entities have shifted toward synthetic or high-density polymers, potentially altering the entity’s physical durability.
Archivist’s Note: Observations regarding the potential for “Digital Tupilaq” or manifestations that bypass traditional shamanic rituals are currently under review.
