Guayota: The Demon of Teide

  • Classification: Euclid
  • Threat Level: 5 (High)
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral / Destructive
  • Origin: Guanche Mythology (Canary Islands)

Guayota is a primordial, malevolent entity deeply woven into the volcanic landscape of the Canary Islands. Within the context of Guanche cosmology, he represents the antithesis of the supreme sky deity, Achamán.

  • Appearance: Historically sighted or described as a colossal, soot-colored black dog, manifesting with embers for eyes and a coat of obsidian fur. In his true form, he is an amorphous entity composed of superheated plasma, tectonic pressure, and abyssal darkness.
  • Nature: Guayota is the personification of cataclysm. Mythological records indicate he once abducted Magec (the Sun) and imprisoned the celestial body within the depths of Echeide—the mountain now known as Mount Teide. This act plunged the archipelago into an era of terrifying darkness until the intervention of Achamán.

“The mountain does not merely erupt; it screams. The lava flows are but the scorched breath of the entity straining against the tectonic seal.” — Fragmented archival note, Expedition 7-B.

When the entity enters an active state, the following protocols must be maintained to prevent catastrophic site breach:

  1. Reality Anchoring: Any seismic activity within the caldera must be cross-referenced with local ley-line fluctuations.
  2. Containment Perimeter: A standard 50-meter safety radius is mandatory for all personnel. Do not attempt to interact with shadows manifesting at temperatures exceeding 400°C.
  3. Mythic Resonance: Maintain standard Guanche-system metaphysical dampeners. The entity draws strength from narratives of destruction; do not provoke or document excessive volcanic activity near sentient populations.

In the current framework of anomalous studies, Guayota is classified as a Geo-Sentient Singularity.

While modern science attributes the eruptions of Teide to mantle plumes and tectonic plate shifting, archival deep-lore suggests these events coincide with periods of high anomalous activity. Researchers are currently investigating whether Guayota acts as a sentient gatekeeper for interdimensional pathways located deep within the Earth’s mantle.

Pending Researcher Addendum: Proposals for the installation of deep-crust monitoring stations are currently under review. Any researcher with field experience in subterranean anomalies is encouraged to contribute to the “Project Echeide” containment logs.

Archivist Note: Keep the mountain quiet. If the black dog appears in the smoke, cease all observation and evacuate to the nearest waypoint.
