  • Entity Name: Kijimuna
  • Classification: Euclid
  • Threat Level: 5 (Volatile)
  • Alignment: Neutral (Context-Dependent)
  • Category: Island Spirit / Yokai
  • Mythological System: Ryukyuan Religion
  • Habitat: Ficus microcarpa (Banyan trees)

“To the uninitiated, they are merely mischievous forest children. To the local fisherman, they are a fickle deity of fortune who demands a precise toll—the left eye of the night’s catch.”

The Kijimuna (sometimes spelled Kijimunar) are spectral, humanoid entities native to the Okinawa archipelago. According to regional folklore and archived sightings, they manifest as small, prepubescent entities covered entirely in vibrant, coarse red hair. They possess disproportionately large heads and are noted for a high-pitched, echoing vocalization pattern.

  • Biological Anomalies: While they appear organic, their physiology is intrinsically tied to the lifecycle of the Gajumaru (Banyan) tree.
  • Dietary Quirk: Kijimuna are highly proficient fishermen, yet they exhibit a compulsive biological imperative to consume only the left eyes of their catch.
  • Psychological Triggers: They are sensitive to olfactory stimuli. Specifically, the emission of flatulence in their immediate vicinity is considered an unforgivable affront, often resulting in immediate, severe, and retaliatory metaphysical cursing.

When operating within a 50-meter radius of a Kijimuna-inhabited tree, all personnel must adhere to strict behavioral constraints:

  1. Protocol 01: Avoid any form of arson or deforestation near Ficus microcarpa specimens. The destruction of their habitat triggers a Class-5 hostility event.
  2. Protocol 02: Maintain strict dietary hygiene. Any interaction with the entity should involve the formal offering of fish, ensuring the left eye has been removed beforehand to satisfy their innate behavioral loop.
  3. Protocol 03: Offensive odors are classified as a breach of protocol. Avoid physical exposure to gasses that could be interpreted as an insult by the entity.

In the context of the contemporary containment framework, the Kijimuna represent a “Low-Impact/High-Volatility” anomaly. They do not seek global domination; rather, they serve as custodians of the ecosystem.

Researcher Notes (Archivist Log):

“We currently do not classify the Kijimuna as an active threat to global stability. However, their presence in modern urbanized Okinawan areas has led to an increase in ‘unexplained’ equipment failures in areas where Banyan trees are being removed for construction. We are monitoring the correlation between the loss of these spirits and the subsequent ‘bad luck’ streaks reported by local civilian authorities. Suggest further surveillance.”

Containment Strategy: Passive monitoring. Preservation of primary Banyan habitats is the most cost-effective method for preventing spontaneous metaphysical instability.
