“And out of the pits of Angband there issued the winged dragons, that had not before been seen; and very many and strong they were, and howsoever they were accounted in the tales of the days of old, they were enough to have overwhelmed all Beleriand.” — The Silmarillion

  • Entity Name: Ancalagon the Black
  • Origin: Tolkien Legendarium
  • Classification: Euclid
  • Threat Level: 5 (Extinction-Event Potential)
  • Alignment: Neutral (Morgoth-Aligned/Weaponized)
  • Primary Tags: #PrimordialDarkness #TolkienLegendarium #GreatestOfDragons

Ancalagon the Black stands as the absolute zenith of draconic evolution within the First Age of Middle-earth. Bred in the volcanic pits of Angband as the ultimate kinetic and elemental weapon of the Dark Lord Morgoth, his presence signaled the final, desperate act of the War of Wrath.

  • Physical Manifestation: His physical scale defies traditional biology. Historical archives note that his wingspan was vast enough to eclipse the sun, casting a shroud of artificial night over the battlefield.
  • Thermal Output: His breath-fire was of such extreme temperature that legend posits it could have melted the Rings of Power, had they been present for the testing.
  • The Descent: Following his defeat by Eärendil the Mariner, Ancalagon’s carcass fell upon the towers of Thangorodrim. The sheer force of his impact resulted in the destruction of the volcanic range, irrevocably altering the geography of the northern world.

Under current archival standards, the following containment protocols are active:

  1. Reality Anchoring: Any manifestation within modern coordinates must strictly adhere to the established metaphysical laws of the Tolkien Legendarium to prevent causality collapse.
  2. Exclusion Zone: A base警戒 (warning) radius of 50 meters is strictly enforced. Exposure to draconic “black fire” remnants causes rapid transmutation of carbon-based matter.

Research Note: There is currently no active documentation regarding Ancalagon the Black in a post-industrial context.

However, theoretical research suggests that if an entity of this magnitude were to manifest in a modern environment, it would likely function as a “Living Singularity.” Containment would not be possible; instead, the strategy would pivot to Observation and Egress Delay.

Researchers are encouraged to submit supplemental data regarding potential subterranean remnants of his bloodline or localized tectonic irregularities linked to his resting place.
