Description
Section titled “Description”The Jiuweihu (九尾狐), or “Nine-Tailed Fox,” is a legendary beast originating from the foundational texts of the Classic of Mountains and Seas (《山海经》). Unlike its later folkloric depictions as a malevolent spirit or seductive temptress, the original classic records the entity as a creature of paradoxical nature:
“There is a beast here, shaped like a fox with nine tails. Its sound is like a baby’s cry. It is a man-eater; yet, he who consumes its flesh shall be immune to venomous poisons.”
- Physical Manifestation: A vulpine quadruped possessing exactly nine distinct tails. Observations suggest that the tails may exhibit minor spatial distortions, appearing to occupy more volume than physically possible.
- Biological Paradox: The entity serves as a natural apex predator of the spiritual wilderness, yet its biological components are considered high-tier medicinal catalysts in archaic alchemical rituals.
Behavioral Logic
Section titled “Behavioral Logic”As an entity governed by the laws of the Chinese Classic strata, the Jiuweihu is bound by specific metaphysical axioms:
- Reality Anchoring: When the entity enters an active state, it adheres strictly to the physical and occult constants defined by the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
- Detection Radius: A foundational警戒 (Alert) perimeter of 50 meters is strictly enforced by resident researchers.
- Cognitive Hazard: Subjects approaching the creature often report auditory hallucinations mimicking the cries of human infants. Standard auditory dampeners are required for personnel within a 20-meter radius.
Modern Anomaly Adaptation: Theoretical Framework
Section titled “Modern Anomaly Adaptation: Theoretical Framework”In the context of the current Reality Containment paradigm, the Jiuweihu presents a unique challenge to standard containment protocols.
Research Proposal (In-Progress): While historically linked to the geography of Mount Qingqiu, modern archival surveillance suggests that the entity may manifest in “thin spots” of reality where the barrier between historical record and physical space is porous.
- Containment Protocol: Until further notice, any sightings of nine-tailed vulpine entities in urban settings should be treated as a reality-breach event.
- Note to Researchers: If you are conducting field research on the medicinal properties of the Jiuweihu, please ensure your bio-hazard protocols account for the “poison-immunity” byproduct, as the accidental ingestion of trace particles may lead to unintended metabolic alterations in human subjects.
Archivist Note: Records regarding the evolution of the Jiuweihu from a divine protector of kings to a chaotic spirit are currently being digitized. Please check the “Folklore-to-Entity Transition” sub-index for further updates.
