The Haozhi (豪彘) is an anomalous biological entity cataloged within the Classic of Mountains and Seas (《山海经》— Xi Shan Jing). It represents a critical intersection between ancient biological observation and supernatural classification.

“There is a beast upon Zhushan. It resembles a pig, yet it is draped in white fur. The individual quills are as large as hairpins (ji), tipped with distinct, hardened black points.”

  • Primary Form: Resembles a Sus scrofa (domestic swine) in skeletal structure, though significantly more agile.
  • Integumentary System: Covered in dense white fur, interspersed with oversized, rigid quills.
  • Defensive Capability: The quills act as both biological armor and offensive projectiles. Unlike standard porcine anatomy, the quills exhibit high tensile strength, capable of piercing standard tactical plating if the entity is agitated.

When the entity is in an active state, research personnel must adhere to the following protocols derived from Chinese Classic metaphysical constraints:

  1. Reality Anchoring: All interactions must respect the underlying physical and occult laws defined by the Shan Hai Jing framework. Deviations in localized reality may cause the entity to manifest “glitch-like” behavioral patterns.
  2. Perimeter Security: Maintain a strict 50-meter non-aggression zone. Entry into this radius triggers a defensive quill-release response.
  3. Biological Diet: The Haozhi is known to be opportunistic. Avoid bringing organic, bamboo-related, or high-protein materials into its containment proximity.

Research Note: Currently, there is no established modern-era containment protocol for the Haozhi. Its existence in the contemporary world appears to be restricted to localized “pocket” regions surrounding the coordinates of historical Zhushan.

Archivist’s Warning: Field researchers suspect that modern industrial vibrations might be causing these entities to migrate from their literary origin points into the physical, modern world. If you encounter a porcine entity with black-tipped, hairpin-sized quills, do not attempt to engage. Report the sighting to the Bureau of Archaic Anomalies immediately.
